  1. Call for Papers — Enclosed is a separate Call for Papers and Instructions to Authors.  If you intend to present a paper or poster, please return the Title Submission Form together with your Abstract (on disk or by e-mail) to the ASSBT office at 800 Grant Street, Suite 300, Denver, CO  80203, as soon as possible, but no later than October 20, 2004.  Please note that this year again we plan to make abstracts available prior to the meeting; thus, abstracts are required by the above deadline.  Please follow the abstract preparation instructions carefully.
  2. Letters from Awards Committee and Savitsky Awards Committee Chairpersons — Please consider nominating worthy candidates for recognition by our Society.

The 33rd Biennial Meeting of the American Society of Sugar Beet Technologists will be held on March 2nd thru 5th at the Riviera Resort and Racquet Club in Palm Springs CA.  Our meeting will follow this schedule:

The ASSBT Board of Directors met in February to begin planning this meeting.  Final arrangements are being made for an interesting General Session.  Several tours to special places in and around Palm Springs are being planned for the enjoyment of accompanying persons.  An excellent Program Committee has been appointed, and is working to develop a strong program with attention to current topics of importance to our industry.  The committee consists of:  

General Program Chairperson  — Mark Suhr
Agricultural Program Chairperson — Mark Bredehoeft
Operations Program Chairperson — Upasiri (Sam) Samaraweera
Poster Program Chairperson — John Lamb

The following rate has been negotiated with the Hotel for our meeting:

Single or Double occupancy            $175.00/night 


Later this year we will be sending out detailed information on the meeting, including registration cards and hotel reservation cards.  If you need to make reservations prior to that time, please be sure to identify yourself as being with the American Society of Sugar Beet Technologists Group.
