The Savitsky Memorial Award Committee is seeking nominations from the membership of the American Society of Sugar Beet Technologists.  If a selection is made, the award will be presented at the ASSBT/IIRB Joint Meeting to be held in San Antonio, TX, February 26 ö March 1, 2003.

The Savitsky Memorial Award is the highest honor that the Society can bestow.  There are no defining guidelines for this award, and the candidate does not have to be a member of the ASSBT.  Obviously, though, the candidate must have demonstrated excellence in either science or service to the beet sugar industry.

The Savitsky Memorial Award has been given three times.  First to Dr. R. A. McGinnis, second to Mr. James Fischer, and third to Dr. Jim Duffus.

Nominations should be sent to the ASSBT office, and must include a summary of qualifications of the candidate.  Nominations must reach the ASSBT office by November 15, 2002
